Campaign For Houston - No Men in Women's Bathrooms

Proposition 1, the Bathroom Ordinance, Resoundingly Defeated

Houston, Texas, November 4, 2015 - In a historic win, Houstonians defeated Proposition 1, the Bathroom Ordinance, by a resounding 61 – 39% margin.  Proposition 1, supported by Mayor Annise Parker, would have allowed men, who claimed to be women, to use women’s bathrooms, showers and locker rooms.

Dr. Hotze, President of Campaign for Houston, said, “Houstonians refused to be bullied by the agents of political correctness who wanted to force them to allow men to use women’s public accommodations. They voted overwhelmingly to protect women’s privacy and safety. Mayor Parker, Obama, Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and her allies at Houston GBLT Political Caucus PAC were soundly rebuked in their attempt to promote sexual anarchy in our city. This sends a message to the rest of the country that Houston is a family oriented city with a moral backbone.”

“We give God the glory for this victory.  We applaud leaders like Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Attorney General Ken Paxton, Pastor Ed Young, and Lance Berkman who demonstrated the courage of their convictions by opposing Houston’s Proposition 1,” said Dr. Hotze.

Jared Woodfill, Spokesman for Campaign for Houston added, “We have been saying all along that this was not about ‘equal rights.’ Defeating Proposition 1 was about protecting women’s and girls’ privacy and safety in public accommodations. Even though the ACLU and other liberal groups from out of state spent millions of dollars supporting Proposition 1, the voters of Houston were not fooled.”

“We thank the Houston voters for standing up for common decency and common sense by defeating Houston’s Proposition 1,” said Dr. Hotze.  “This is a great win for Houston and will provide encouragement to other individuals and organizations across the country who have been fighting similar ordinances. We pray that God will enable us to restore our nation to its Christian heritage, so that America can once again be a godly nation, a shining light in a dark world.  Campaign for Houston will continue to vigilantly promote conservative values, including freedom of speech and religious liberty.”
